This week in AP Calc, we reviewed what we learned in Pre Calc last year. I had a hard time remembering stuff from math last year since I didn't take the 3rd tri. However, as I'm doing more practice, the more it starts to come back.
A problem in the pre-requisite packet that I thought was really helpful and I actually enjoyed doing was the Position vs. Time and Speed vs. Time. I liked how it was really interactive in including a video you had to watch in order to do the problem. I felt pretty confident in my work and answer after completing this problem.
A problem in the pre-requisite packet that I struggled with was the one pictured to the right. It's not that I had a hard time grasping the concept or even doing the problem, I just couldn't remember the rules of which quadrant sin, cosine, and tangent were positive in. Since I couldn't remember that, I couldn't figure out where the reference angle was. Besides that, the problem was easy. This is an example of a problem that I don't struggle with, I just have a hard time recalling information from last year. I haven't thought anything was too difficult yet, but then again I haven't finished half the problems.
I felt that my participation this week was good. It's easy to participate in this particular class because we sit in pods. It makes it a lot easier to ask talk to and ask your peers questions. I like that everything is pretty laid back. It makes me more comfortable to ask questions. I also think that I learn better when a peer explains it to me. Sitting in pods is such a big advantage because there are 3 people around me that could help me understand the material. Peer to peer learning is beneficial for me because I feel like they might have had to overcome the same struggles I'm dealing with in order to understand the information. I like sharing ideas and bouncing things off one another. I also get to hear 2-3 other points of views that I might understand better.
