This week we started the Multimodal group project, based off of the NY Times Snowfall digital article. We created groups based on what books we have already read or were wanting to read. I had already read Their Eyes Were Watching God for my independent reading project last trimester. For the first 3 days of the class I was in 1st hour so my group consisted of Halie, Kristin, Brenna, and I. The book we chose was "Siddhartha" and it was basically about the journey of Buddha. I only read the first couple of chapters before I ended switching my schedule around. Now I have 2nd hour AP Lit, so my group completely changed and I have a new book assigned! I joined the group of Allie, Jess, Sean, and Nick reading "Things Fall Apart". Since Mr. Schoenborn wasn't here Thursday or today, I won't be able to physically get the book until Monday.
The project itself seems pretty cool. I like how there are different roles for each person in the group. Between the roles of writer, graphic designer, video journalist, and wildcard, I think I'd fit best as a video journalist or a wildcard. Video journalist because I'm pretty good at designing and formatting slideshows and presentations. I'd be good as a wildcard because I'd be able to help out everyone who needed it. The concept of this multimodal project is really cool in the way that it seems like it's a regular article, accept with embedded moving images and videos, and also outside sources that support the article/story. Creativity is a major role in this project to make it above and beyond. I'd would like to think that I'm somewhat creative, so hopefully I'm able to voice my opinion on the layout, color scheme, font, etc. I'm excited to start my new book with my new group!
