This week in AP Calc we learn about limits. The only thing I can think about when I was in class and doing my homework was Mean Girls! The quote, "The limit does not exist" is pretty popular and I like that I actually understand it now. It kind of makes me want to go back and watch the movie so I can look at what the problem Lindsey Lohan was talking about and see why the limit didn't exist!
During the week, I understood the homework problems we did really well. The last 5 problems were actually kind of enjoyable. It's weird to say but they were like a puzzle! I'm confident in my answers and how to do them. The rule that we were taught helped a lot too. I didn't think anything we did was unreasonably difficult. I feel like I learned it better because we were forced to kind of teach ourselves before we got the actual lesson plan, which just showed us shortcuts, formulas, and confirmation that what we were doing was right.
However, this week I did struggle with the packet a little bit. I don't know if it was just because I hadn't really learned it yet but it was harder for me than the homework. I started to get the hang of things during the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd problems. When I got to the 4th one I couldn't figure out how to word it! I knew the limits didn't exist because 1. it was given and 2. when I put them in the calculator they wouldn't be going towards the same number. It'd be pretty random. After going over it in class I understand it a lot better, and know that there are terms to use such as the graph oscillating and jumping.
My participation this week included working with my group to finish the Intro to Limits packet and solve problems on the whiteboard. I liked how the packet was very interactive, and made you go online for the 6th problem. This class makes it exceptionally easy to participate!
